Petrolia Wing Night to drum up support for food bank

The Petrolia Lions Club will be selling hundreds of pounds of chicken wings this weekend to drum up support for the local food bank.

Club VP Kevin Storozuk said the Wing Night festivities begin Saturday at 4 p.m. outside the Lions Hall.

"We got a few hundred pounds of wings, we'll see how long those last. It's just takeout, but we got picnic tables under our pavilion and all around the hall," he said. "We got honey garlic, BBQ, and hot, and then you can have plain if that's too much for you, and while you're waiting for your wings, you can enjoy a cold beer or a cooler."

Storozuk said the support for the club's Fish Fry last month was overwhelming, adding that they didn't have tickets for too long.

"We sold out in 90 minutes, so that was something -- we were all running, it was great, people complimented us on our fish and actually being there, so it was nice to be recognized and give back a little too."

Storozuk said much of the proceeds from the fish fry, along with this weekend's wing event, will help out area food banks.

"Right now, there's a big demand at the food bank, so we've been trying to support them."

A pound of wings is $15 and comes with a side of veggies. The event wraps up at around 7 p.m.
