Pair arrested in Essex Street stabbing

Two men wanted in connection with a stabbing on Essex Street in Sarnia June 14 have been arrested.

Two suspects, known to a 34-year-old man and 31-year-old woman, were invited into a residence in the 100 block at around 10 p.m. that night.

Police said once inside, the male victim was assaulted and stabbed several times while the female victim was threatened with a large knife.

The suspects allegedly took some property and left.

Lambton OPP arrested Todd Wayne Campbell, 31, July 13 on an outstanding warrant. He remains in custody and has since been charged by Sarnia police with aggravated assault, robbery and failing to comply with probation.

Sarnia police located Joshua Allen Spero (also known as Chase Venema), 35, Thursday afternoon, July 30, at around 1:30 p.m. at a residence in the 300 block of Devine Street.

He was arrested on an outstanding warrant and charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, uttering threats, robbery with violence and failing to comply with probation.

Spero was being held pending a bail hearing.

Police had said in June that the male victim was in serious but stable condition in hospital.

Cst. John Sottosanti said Thursday he has since been released.
