New pumper trucks for St. Clair fire

The St. Clair Township Fire Department has two new pumper trucks to replace aging vehicles at the Port Lambton and Courtright stations.

The trucks have room for six firefighters, including four in the rear, and are fully crash-tested.

The department was able to save over $150,000 on each truck by utilizing basically, the crew compartment from a custom-built cab and the commercial chassis from Freightliner.

The trucks can each pump 6,000 litres per minute, and have a 3,700-litre water tank and a foam system.

The department said with the efficient use of space, ergonomics and safety features the apparatus will serve firefighters and the community for years to come.

The Rosenbauer-brand trucks were purchased about a year ago from a Woodstock dealer, ResQTech and built at one of the company's facilities in South Dakota.
