OPP investigate Grand Bend Beach assault, busy Canada Day week

Lambton OPP arrested two people at Grand Bend beach in connection with an assault on the weekend.

On Saturday at about 9 p.m. police responded to the main beach in the resort village.

They were able to locate a victim of an alleged assault and two Brampton residents, aged 31 and 24, were taken into custody.

They're to appear in Sarnia court September 28 on charges of assault.

Lambton OPP handled over 500 calls for service during Canada Day week from June 27 to July 5.

The calls ranged from assaults to traffic complaints and disturbances.

Police arrested seven impaired drivers, issued 144 speeding tickets, laid two distracted driving charges, removed five stunt drivers from the road, and issued 10 seat belt tickets.

There were also 40 charges laid in Grand Bend under the Liquor Licence Act.
