COVID testing at Lambton farms negative so far

The first round of COVID-19 tests of migrant workers at Lambton County farms shows no positive cases.

Lambton Medical Officer of Health Dr. Sudit Ranade said Monday the testing is ongoing.

"The results have been received and we have not received any positives from that round of testing," said Ranade. "There's some more [testing] that's going to take place this week but that's I think some good news."

A team of Bluewater Health staff and others are part of a mobile unit that began testing a week ago at four farms.

Sarnia-Lambton recorded its first new confirmed case of COVID in nearly two weeks Friday night.

"I believe it's a close contact of a known case," Ranade said.

The local case trend remains positive.

Lambton Public Health reported Sunday night that there are 286 confirmed cases, 258 resolved, and 25 deaths leaving just three active cases.

Bluewater Health hasn't had a patient with the virus in the hospital is over three weeks now. As of Monday there were 10 in hospital suspected of having the virus with tests pending.
