Drive-by graduate parade at Lambton College Wednesday (VIDEO & GALLERY)

Lambton College's annual graduation ceremony looked a lot different this year.

The traditional in-person convocation was supposed to be held on June 13 but was postponed due to COVID-19.

Instead, the college invited its graduating students to take part in a drive-by celebration parade on campus Wednesday.

Alumni Association Director Marc Guilbeault said they wanted to hold a special day for their graduating students.

He said about 480 of them signed up for the event.

"We've heard from so many students that it's been heartbreaking for a number who have fought through incredible adversity to get to where they are," he said. "Walking across that stage is usually that shining moment for them. Again, it's not traditional, we weren't able to do that but we've had an incredibly positive response."

The parade was held from 11:15 a.m. until 12:15 p.m.

Cars entered from London Road and exit on Wellington Street, and the route was lined with school faculty.

Each student took home a pizza kit from Giresi's and a box of fresh produce from Sarnia Produce.
