COVID outbreak ended at Vision, declared at Afton Park Place

An outbreak of COVID-19 that lasted nearly two months at Vision Nursing Home has ended.

On its website, Lambton Public Health declared the outbreak that started on April 23 as over. A total of 28 staff and 26 residents from the Wellington Street facility tested positive for the virus. Ten of the 25 related deaths in the community were linked to the outbreak.

Another outbreak has been declared at Afton Park Place after a staff member recently tested positive for COVID-19. It's one of two active outbreaks in the community. Health officials declared an outbreak at Bluewater Health on Wednesday after three staff members tested positive.

Lambton Public Health said since the pandemic started, 40 per cent of the local cases have been linked to an outbreak, 35 per cent have been a close contact of a case and 22 per cent have been from an unknown exposure.

The health unit is reporting two more confirmed cases as of Thursday night, up to 281 while 240 have been deemed recovered.

Bluewater Health said there are no patients in the hospital confirmed to have the virus, while 23 patients are suspected of having it with tests pending.
