Sarnia building activity depressed by pandemic

Building activity in Sarnia remains depressed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

City hall issued 36 permits worth just over $3 million in May compared to 81 worth $8.2 million during the same month last year.

Through the first five months of 2020, the year-to-date total of $18.1 million is more than $10 million off the 2019 pace.

The largest permit issued last month was for $910,000 for a building at 757 Phillip St. W.
