Sessions Cannabis has plans for store in Sarnia

There are two cannabis stores proposed in Sarnia now.

Sessions Cannabis is hoping to open sometime this year at 600 Murphy Road next to the Real Canadian Superstore.

The proposed site of Sessions Cannabis in Sarnia - Jun 2/20.

The company's application has to be approved by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario and is subject to a public comment period, which hasn't been finalized.

CEO Steven Fry said he expects the store to create 10 local jobs.

"It's really great to provide a safe alternative to the grey market that exists out there today," said Fry. "Our products are Health Canada approved. It's a shame that it's still stigmatized but over time brands like Sessions will be able to break down the stigma, and we know consumers are looking to indulge in the experience."

The proposed store will be operated by Sarnia native Armarjit Singh.

More news on the public comment period, which is typically 15 days, is expected to be made available shortly, at which time a notice will be placed on the front window of the proposed site.

Sessions Cannabis was started over a year ago and plans to open 30 stores across Ontario this year.

Public comment on a proposed pot shop called Natures Buds at 1362 Lambton Mall Road, and Bend Cannabis Co. at 19 Main Street in Grand Bend, has ended.

Both applications remain in progress.
