Nearly 30 COVID-19 cases now reported at Vision

Lambton Public Health is reporting five more confirmed cases of COVID-19 at Vision Nursing Home.

The health unit updated its website Tuesday night to report 15 residents and 14 staff members at the long term care home have tested positive.

The five new cases bring the total to 230 in the community. Four more people have recovered for a total of 167 and the death toll remains at 19.

The health unit says 21 per cent of the local cases have been among long-term care residents, while 17 per cent have been health care workers.

Tuesday, the provincial government announced an independent commission into the way COVID-19 has spread through its long-term care homes.

Bluewater Health reported Wednesday that the number of people in hospital confirmed to have the virus has dropped to four, and 13 patients are suspected of having it with tests pending.
