Fourth COVID death linked to Vision, three more staff test positive

A Sarnia long-term care facility suffering a COVID-19 outbreak is now linked to four deaths and 21 confirmed cases.

As of Saturday night, Lambton Public Health reported the death of a fourth resident and three new confirmed cases among staff at Vision Nursing Home over the past 24 hours. A total of 13 residents and eight staff have tested positive since an outbreak was declared April 23.

The health unit reported a total of five new confirmed cases in the latest update, bringing the total to 222, while the number of recovered rose three to 163. The death toll now sits at 19.

Two additional institutional outbreaks were declared in Sarnia-Lambton Friday night and Saturday, one at Marshall Gowland Manor in Sarnia after one of 127 residents tested positive and another at Village on the St. Clair where two residents are confirmed to have the virus.

Outbreaks have since ended at Lambton Meadowview Villa in Petrolia and at Landmark Village and Sumac Lodge in the city.

Bluewater Health reported Sunday that just five patients are currently in hospital with confirmed COVID-19 and that tests are pending for 13 people in hospital with suspected COVID-19.
