Lambton Public Health reports another COVID-19 death

Sarnia-Lambton has recorded another death because of COVID-19.

Lambton Public Health updated its website Monday night to report a total of 15 deaths in the community.

The latest is linked to an outbreak at Vision Nursing Home in Sarnia, where four residents and two staff members have tested positive for the virus. It's the first death reported since April 20.

Lambton County, citing privacy restrictions, will only say the 15th victim was in their 80s and died Monday.

Bluewater Health spokesperson Julia Oosterman said Tuesday that the latest death was not an in-hospital patient, and the death toll there remains at 14. The hospital reported that nine people are still in hospital with the virus and 14 patients are suspected of having it with tests pending.

There are three institutional outbreaks including Sarnia's Landmark Village retirement home and Sumac Lodge.

The health unit said the number of positive cases is up by three to 192 while 121 people have now recovered from the virus.

Lambton Public Health has received the results from 3,054 COVID-19 tests, of which 94 per cent have come back negative.
