Sarnia police recover stolen vehicle, trailer, man arrested

Sarnia police arrested a man Sunday morning and recovered a number of items from a vehicle believed to have been used in numerous local thefts.

At around 8 a.m., an officer spotted a suspect vehicle and trailer parked on Wellington Street east of Mitton Street, with a man asleep in the passenger's seat.

Police determined the black pickup truck and attached white cargo trailer had been reported stolen from the London area.

The plates on the truck were also found to be stolen.

A search of the vehicle and suspect allegedly turned up methamphetamine and fentanyl.

The investigation is ongoing, and police said recovered items include a number of tools, a motorcycle, and various forms of identification.

A 34-year-old Lambton Shores man is charged with two counts of possession of stolen property over $5,000, one count of possession of stolen property under $5000, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

Police said more charges are pending as the investigation continues.

The suspect remains in custody.
