COVID-19 delays LiUNA Block Party

The LiUNA Do It For Sarnia Block Party featuring The Trews and Walk Off The Earth has been postponed.

The event, in support of mental health and addiction services at Bluewater Health, was supposed to be held on June 19 and 20 at Centennial Park. It has now been pushed to mid-September.

Bluewater Health Foundation Executive Director Kathy Alexander said the change was made due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and with the advice of Canada's public health authorities.

"We've been monitoring the situation since early March when cancellations started coming through and quarantine orders were put in place," said Alexander. "We did make the decision just recently to postpone the block party until September 2020. We do have new dates -- September 11 and 12."

Alexander said tickets already purchased will be honoured for the new dates.

She said there's also the option of a refund or purchasers can donate the value of the ticket to the foundation.

"This is a pretty important fundraiser for us and we're cautiously optimistic that it will take place in September," she said. "But, we're also very aware of many other charities that are having to cancel and postpone and we know it's a difficult time for people. So like I said, we are cautiously optimistic and planning as if we're going to have an amazing party in September."
