Court date set for murder suspect in woman's death

A London man, charged with first degree murder in connection with the death of a Sarnia woman, has a court appearance set for early May.

Owen Clarke, 34, was arrested by Sarnia police Thursday, April 23 and is to appear by video in Sarnia court May 8.

He's accused killing 29-year-old Sarah Marie Thwaites in what police called a "vicious assault" last month.

Sarnia police responded to Palmerston Street North near Cobden Street just before midnight on Friday, March 13, to investigate a report of a female in distress. The mother of infant twins was rushed to hospital where she died.

Police have not released other details including whether or not a weapon was involved, saying the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Sgt. Mike Kahnert, at 519-344-8861 ext. 6196 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
