Sting sign first-round pick Namestnikov

The Sarnia Sting have signed forward Maxim Namestnikov to an OHL Standard Player Agreement.

The 15-year-old centre was selected with the third overall pick in this year's Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection.

“I am extremely proud and honoured to announce that I have officially signed with the Sarnia Sting," said Namestnikov in a media release. "I can’t wait to meet all of my teammates and I am very excited to get started as a member of the Sting.”

Sting owner and Associate Coach David Legwand said the team is thrilled to welcome Matt to the organization.

"Max possesses elite-level offensive skill which is matched by his work ethic and compete level. He was one of the top players on an outstanding Detroit Honeybaked team this past season. Max is a proven winner that comes from strong hockey bloodlines, our fans are certainly going to enjoy watching him play for the Sarnia Sting.”
