Arrest made in Sarnia murder investigation

A London man has been charged in connection with a homicide in Sarnia last month.

Sarnia police responded to the 100 block of Palmerston Street North just before midnight on Friday, March 13, to investigate a report of a female in distress.

Officers arrived to find 29-year-old Sarah Marie Thwaites suffering from life-threatening injuries. She was rushed to hospital where she later died as a result of what police called a "vicious assault."

Cst. John Sottosanti said a suspect is now in custody.

"As the investigation unfolded, reasonable grounds were reached to arrest and charge Owen Clarke, 34 years old of London, with first-degree murder," said Sottosanti.

Clarke was arrested by members of the Sarnia Police Service on Thursday, April 23.

Cst. Sottosanti said the investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Sgt. Mike Kahnert, at 519-344-8861 ext. 6196.
