Alleged power tool thief faces more charges

Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of a Sarnia man for breaking his release conditions after he was arrested for allegedly stealing power tools.

The Sarnia Police Service said on Monday just before 2 a.m., two men broke into a locked storage trailer that was located in the rear compound of the Habitat for Humanity Re-Store on London Line.

Around $5,000 worth of DeWalt power tools were stolen, along with a DeWalt toolbox that contained various smaller tools.

After reviewing surveillance video, police were able to identify one suspect. As a result, Joseph Austin Boose, 21, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with theft over $5,000.  He was then released on an undertaking with conditions, which police allege he has since breached.

Boose is now facing two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking.

Anyone with information regarding this man's whereabouts or information about the second man involved in this incident is asked to contact police at 519-344-8861 or Crime Stoppers at 519-332-8477.

Surveillance video of the theft and a photo of the second suspect can be viewed below.
