Local taxi driver tests positive for COVID-19

Lambton Public Health has issued an alert after learning that a cab driver who works for Greg's Taxi tested positive for COVID-19.

The health unit is urging anyone who used the taxi service April 1, 3, 6, 7, 8 and 10 to contact them so they can assess the interaction and offer them guidance going forward. Lambton Public Health said it's working with the cab company to collect information regarding trips made during the days in question.

"It is difficult to trace this person's close contacts because of the nature of the taxi-cab industry, and we know that this taxi driver would have been in a confined space with members of the public while operating the taxi," said Dr. Sudit Ranade, Medical Officer of Health for Lambton County. "These reasons make it imperative that we release these details to the public so that we can speak with anyone who used this service and give them the best guidance possible."

Lambton Public Health is advising those who used the service to monitor their symptoms and call them at 519-383-8331.
