Cool start to Easter weekend, rain Sunday and Monday

The long Easter weekend in Sarnia-Lambton will start off unseasonably cool, with rain developing for Sunday and Monday.

While Saturday will be nice, the forecast through Monday may make it somewhat easier for residents to adhere to pandemic protocols and limit their excursions outdoors to essential trips only.

Environment Canada meteorologist Peter Kimbell said cooler air is taking hold heading into Good Friday.

"No precipitation expected on Friday but cool with a high of only six degrees," said Kimbell. "But Saturday, pleasant conditions, a high of nine and sunny. Sunday, showers are back, and Monday is probably going to be rainy and mild."

Kimbell said April is usually a wet month, and he doesn't see any unseasonably warm weather in the near future.

"April is always a month with shower activity. I can't really be too specific as to when because when you get beyond five days or so, the accuracy goes down. But what I can tell you is that after Monday, we get into some cold air, so it's going to be cool Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, so no heatwave in store at this point in April."

The normal high at this time of year in Sarnia is 11 C (52 F).
