In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and the closure of non-essential stores, many small local businesses are turning to online commerce to stay afloat.
The Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership is helping them by offering one-on-one consultations, free of charge.
CEO Stephen Thompson said each business has different needs.
He said the sessions will focus on enhancing a company's online presence and adding features like shopping carts and checkouts.
"It's really to give a high-level overview to the businesses on what the opportunity might be. From there, we anticipate that a business would probably speak to a wide range of local companies that could implement a solution like that for them. So we see it as a positive for the business that would benefit from having this feature on their website, and the IT community that exists locally that could implement this for a business."
Thompson said the measures are especially important during this time of social distancing.
He said the program will have the ability to help a wide variety of businesses in both the retail and service sectors that are the backbone of the economy.
