Two Sarnia men are facing drug-related charges after allegedly stealing a licence plate off of a car parked at a Trudeau Drive complex.
City police were called to the 200 block at around 10:30 p.m. Monday after a witness reported spotting someone removing a plate.
Police said a vehicle fled the scene, but witnesses were able to get the licence plate number.
Just before 3 a.m. Tuesday, officers stopped the vehicle in the area of Murphy Road and Exmouth Street and arrested two men.
Police said the driver was disqualified, and a search of the suspects and the vehicle allegedly turned up a number of prohibited items.
1) 123 grams of crystal methamphetamine with a street value of $11,000
2) Four grams of crack cocaine with a street value of $400
3) 20 suspected opiate pills with a street value of $160
4) $2600 in Canadian Currency
Kyle Adam Thompson, 30, of Sarnia, faces one count of possession of property obtained by crime, three counts of possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited under the Criminal Code of Canada, two counts of failing to comply with a release order, and three counts of breach of probation.
Vincent Craig Burr, 32, of Sarnia, is charged with possession of property obtained by crime and three counts of possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking.
Thompson was held in custody while Burr was released on bail.
