Hospital foundation establishes COVID-19 donation fund

Bluewater Health Foundation has established a COVID-19 fund to support the hospital's fight against the pandemic.

Foundation Executive Director Kathy Alexander said they've had multiple requests from community members about how they can help.

"We've decided that the best way for folks to do that is to make a financial contribution to Bluewater Health Foundation that will specifically address the highest priority needs of the organization as they're going through this unprecedented time," said Alexander. "So that could mean the purchase of equipment as it comes up, it could mean accommodation support, programing support to help staff and our physicians, so it's really, I would say, a catch-all of identified urgencies of Bluewater Health."

Alexander said any donation will enhance the ability for hospital workers to diagnose and treat patients during this difficult time and beyond.

"I can't say today that it'll go to an X-ray or a specific piece of equipment, but what we are sharing with the community is that the funds raised will support our healthcare professionals during this unprecedented time and in the future of the organization."

Alexander added that the foundation understands that not everyone can give at this time.

"The financial situation currently, economically, is not the most ideal -- we know that so many folks in our community, in our province and in our country are struggling financially, so any gift of any size truly does make a difference."
