Chamber CEO steps down

The leader of Sarnia-Lambton's chamber of commerce has resigned.

President and Chief Executive Officer Shirley de Silva left the position Monday, March 23.

Board Chair Ryan Bell confirmed the departure with Blackburn News Sarnia on Tuesday.

"The Chamber of Commerce does not comment publicly on employment matters," Bell said in an email. "We have accepted Shirley's resignation and we wish her well."

de Silva was hired in February 2016, taking over for Rory Ring who became chamber president in Sault Ste. Marie.

She previously worked as an aviation industry professional in Kingston and Vancouver.
