Sarnia doc offers COVID-19 consultations

A Sarnia doctor is trying to lessen the burden on the healthcare system in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Doctor Blake Pearson is offering telephone consultations to answer any medical questions related to the outbreak.

The offer is open to anyone regardless of whether or not they're a current patient of his.

He said the goal is to ease the stress on Telehealth Ontario, the emergency department, and leave space for those who are extremely ill.

"You can see patients virtually and get a really good idea of their symptoms, the history and proper screening," said Doctor Pearson. "A lot of the times, it is a viral illness and the symptoms can be managed at home. So, that's what we're finding with a lot of the calls we're getting, and the whole idea of doing it is so that patients don't have to go to the ER for this."

He stresses that this service is for non-emergency information only.

If you're experiencing any acute or life-threatening symptoms, call 911.

Those interested can call Doctor Pearson's office at 519-339-9233 and their telehealth appointment will be scheduled on a priority basis.

You must be an Ontario resident to qualify.

All in-person appointments at Doctor Pearson's office have been cancelled at this time.
