Police recover stolen fire truck near Strathroy

Police recovered a stolen fire truck from an alleged chop shop outside Delaware over the weekend.

On Thursday, London police began investigating the theft of a decommissioned fire truck with an attached trailer, valued at around $75,000, from a secure compound in the city.

Following an anonymous tip, Strathroy and London police executed a search warrant on Muncey Road south of Delaware Sunday.

Strathroy police said when they arrived on scene, two men were allegedly dismantling the truck and that both stolen items had been repainted.

Police arrested three men and later charged two of the suspects with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and removing a vehicle identification number.

The identities of the accused cannot be released until the charges are before the courts.
