UPDATE: Sarnia police investigating suspected homicide

Sarnia police are investigating a suspected homicide.

At about 11:58 p.m. March 13, police responded to a report of a female in medical distress in the 100 block of Palmerston Street North.

They arrived to find a 29-year-old female who was immediately transported to hospital with life threatening injuries.

Police said the woman was later pronounced dead at the hospital from injuries she had sustained, and the death has been deemed to be a suspected homicide.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

The intersection of Palmerston Street North and Cobden Street was still closed Saturday afternoon to all traffic as officers continued their investigation. The public was being asked to avoid the area.
