Imperial Theatre taking steps in response to COVID-19

Sarnia's Imperial Theatre is taking steps to protect staff and patrons in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Executive Director Brian Austin Jr. said Friday night's performance of the Classic Albums Live has been postponed.

"We should be proactive and not have 700 people in one building all at once out of interest to public safety. I reached out to the Classic Albums Live management and they were in the middle of canceling a bunch of performances, so they were on board with us postponing Friday night's event as well."

Austin said The Matthew Good Moving Tour show scheduled for March 15 will also be rescheduled.

Austin said despite the changes, patrons should still hold on to their tickets.

"The performances will be rescheduled and all previously purchased tickets will be honoured. If you have tickets to the show, hold onto them and someone from our box office will be in touch as soon as we have details on the make-up date," he said. "Later this month we've got Matt Andersen and Brent Butt, and as far as we're concerned, those performances are still on and it really is up to a mutual agreement between the artist and the venue."

Austin said the Imperial Box Office is closed to foot traffic until further notice.

Tickets can still be purchased over the phone or online at https://www.imperialtheatre.net/.
