Goal set for 2020 Strong Kids Campaign

A $100,000 goal was set for Sarnia-Lambton's 2020 Strong Kids Campaign Friday morning .

A kickoff ceremony was held at the Jerry McCaw Family Centre on Finch Dr.

YMCA Southwestern Ontario CEO Andrew Lockie said the campaign makes sure that camps and memberships are available to people regardless of their ability to pay.

"Three out of every ten participants in YMCA programming receive financial assistance and this is how we're able to do it," said Lockie. "Today is an incredible celebration and kick off to an important campaign that strengthens the community in very important ways."

The campaign has two lead sponsors this year, Pembina and NOVA Chemicals have each contributed $10,000.

Lockie said all funds raised locally will stay in the community.

The 2019 campaign raised $87,000 and helped 900 people.
