UPDATE: Date for withdrawal management meeting still uncertain
UPDATE as of March 17 from City of Sarnia:
The meeting with Hon. Christine Elliott, Minister of Health, is in the process of being re-scheduled. It is anticipated the meeting will be held sometime in early April. Notification of the new date and time will be provided to you when established.
The on-again, off-again meeting between Sarnia-Lambton officials and Ontario’s health minister is off again.
A meeting to discuss provincial funding for a withdrawal management centre, originally set for Thursday, was cancelled and rescheduled for Monday March 16, but now that date is being changed due to scheduling issues in Christine Elliott’s office.
As of late Wednesday, efforts were underway to find another date for a meeting in Toronto.
Back in November 2018, during a visit to Sarnia, Premier Doug Ford indicated his government would support funding the proposed 24-bed centre, estimated to cost $8.8 million
