Sting calm Storm in home win

Owen Saye scored his first OHL goal as the Sarnia Sting (22-34-5-1) beat the Guelph Storm (32-22-3-5) 4-1 in OHL action Sunday at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.

The Sting have now won back to back games on home ice for the first time since November.

Jacob Perreault scored 2 goals and picked up an assist, while Ryan McGregor scored and dished out two helpers.

Saye opened the scoring 2:01 into the game on an assist by Nolan DeGurse.

McGregor put the Sting ahead 2-0 just over a minute later before Guelph's Keegan Stevenson cut the lead to 2-1.

Perreault scored an insurance marker 5:04 into the third period, and sealed the victory with about six minutes remaining.

Ben Gaudreau made 28 saves on 29 shots in the Sting net. Owen Bennett turned aside 31 of 35 shots for the Storm.

Sarnia is last place in the Western Conference with 50 points. They're 13 back of the 8th place Erie Otters with six games remaining on the schedule.

The Sting's next game is Friday night at home to the Owen Sound Attack on CHOK.
