Sarnia police are warning the public about a traffic ticket scam.
Police said a resident received an email saying they were caught on a stationary traffic camera travelling over twice the legal speed limit.
They said information, including a licence plate number, location, and actual speed was lacking.
Police said such violations are never issued in that way, and there would never be a ten per cent daily penalty added as indicated in the fake email.
Residents are urged to take a close look at such emails to prevent being scammed. The person in the case cited did not fall for it.
Police warn the public not to make any contact via the links in the email, but instead, look up the agency that supposedly sent the information on the internet or in the phone book.
