City's parks and rec hiring seasonal workers

The City of Sarnia's parks and recreation department is looking to hire 21 seasonal workers.

Director Rob Harwood said seasonal staff work as part of a team and perform a variety of general maintenance and cleanup duties.

"They're basically a variety of general maintenance, cleanup and gardening duties to ensure that our parks and public spaces are enjoyed by all of the citizens and visitors of Sarnia," said Harwood. "They'll have terms of approximately 140 days each, we'll start April 1 and we kind of cycle them right through and we'll have seasonal employees on until the end of November."

Harwood said they're hoping to hire applicants with experience and/or education in the field.

"Basically if someone has related education and work experience, a combination of education-training experience, you know, experience in parks maintenance, if somebody has a parks nursery technician diploma, that sort of thing, so we'd like to have people that can kind of hit the ground running."
