A 10-year-old Sarnia girl is sharing her passion for bugs with the world.
PE McGibbon student Sophia Spencer has written a picture book called "The Bug Girl" that celebrates bugs, women in science, and the importance of staying true to yourself.

Spencer said her love of insects started when she was just three years old.
"I went to the butterfly conservatory in Niagara Falls, and I had this blue butterfly land on my shoulder," said Spencer. "It was with me the whole time I was there, and when I left it didn't leave. The guard had to take it off of my shoulder. Ever since then, I was in love with bugs. I couldn't get enough of them."

Spencer said she was initially bullied by some of her classmates who told her that bugs aren't for girls.
Her mother contacted the entomological society and hundreds of female scientists rallied around her and offered their support.
She's even been on Good Morning America, The Today Show and NPR.
Spencer will be officially launching The Bug Girl at The Book Keeper on February 22 from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m.
She will be reading the book and signed copies will be available for purchase.
