Sting lose to Flint in high-scoring Family Day game

The Sarnia Sting lost 12-7 to the visiting Flint Firebirds in the annual Family Day game on Monday afternoon.

Firebirds defenceman Tyler Tucker finished with an outstanding two goals and five assists, and a plus-eight rating.

Jack Wismer had four points for Flint while Connor Roberts, Jake Durham, and Brennan Othmann had three each.

Sam Bitten led the way for the Sting with three assists. Ty Voit, and Nolan Burke both had a goal and an assist. Marko Jakovljevic, Jacob Perreault, Peter Stratis, Theo Hill, and Eric Hjorth rounded out the scoring.

Ethan Langevin started the game for the Sting but was pulled after giving up four goals on 12 shots.

Ben Gaudreau allowed six goals on 25 shots faced. Langevin returned for the third period, and surrendered two more goals on five shots.

Flint goalie Anthony Popovich turned aside 29 of the Sting's 36 shots.

The Sting are back in action on Tuesday night in Windsor, and on Sunday afternoon in Sault St. Marie.
