Sarnia Fire Rescue is seeking public input on its 10-year, community-driven fire master plan.
Fire Chief Brian Arnold said the document will ensure they're meeting the needs of the community.
"Part of the purpose of the Fire Master Plan is to determine what our current capabilities are, as well as our future capabilities and where we need to grow, if at all, for the department," said Arnold.
Arnold expects it will help clarify the future location of the Colborne Road fire hall.
"One of the first deliverables that we're asking the consultants to provide to us, is the station location study aspect of the master fire plan. That way we verify and confirm if it is in fact in the best location to serve the citizens and we have to take those next steps sooner rather than wait until the entire plan is released."
Plans to demolish the Colborne fire station and build a new one on the same site were extinguished last July.
"We're hoping that as many members of the community provide their input, provide their voice, and provide as much detail as possible within those comments. The more detail that's given, gives us a better understanding. Don't worry if you're neighbours say the same thing or not. If we hear enough of the same message from many people, that is an indicator for us of the direction that we want to follow."
The last fire master plan was done in 2007.
The survey is located on the city's public engagement portal, Speak Up Sarnia, and open for comment until Friday, February 21.
