Police seize $15K in drugs and cash during south-end drug bust

Sarnia police seized over $15,000 in drugs and cash and chased down a fleeing suspect during a drug bust in the city's south end Friday afternoon.

The Sarnia Police VICE Unit began an investigation involving an 18-year-old Chatham resident dealing cocaine and methamphetamine in Sarnia last month.

On January 31, while officers were conducting surveillance on a vehicle at a known drug residence, police said they had reasonable and probable grounds to believe the vehicle was transporting a large quantity of drugs.

Police then followed the vehicle, with three males inside, to a gas station on Indian Road South, and at around 3 p.m., officers conducted a take-down as the three males exited the vehicle.

Police said the 18-year-old suspect allegedly resisted arrest and fled the scene, leaving behind a bag containing a significant quantity of drugs while pulling away from police. A foot pursuit ensued and the suspect was later arrested in the 800 block of Devine Street. The other two males were arrested without incident.

VICE Officers seized meth, cocaine and marijuana with a total street value of $10,105.30, along with $4965 in cash.

Jason Russell Lawrence Jacques, 18, of Chatham, Jordan Raymond Garrell, 24, of Chatham, and Shakari Zion Sheehan, 19, of Toronto each face two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, as well as unlawful possession of cannabis.

Jacques faces an additional charge of resisting arrest.

All three males were being held for a bail hearing.
