A pair of alleged impaired drivers were arrested over the weekend — one in Sarnia and one in St. Clair Township.

Sarnia police responded to the area of Exmouth Street and London Road at around 12:20 a.m. on Saturday.

When officers arrived, there was a vehicle on the boulevard and a man outside who identified himself as the driver.

It’s alleged the man was showing physical signs of impairment, and there was a strong smell of alcohol.

The 28-year-old from Sarnia was arrested and taken to police headquarters where police allege he blew twice the legal limit.

He was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and was released on an appearance notice.

At around 12:50 a.m. Sunday, Lambton OPP pulled over a vehicle on St. Clair Parkway.

Police allege the driver was showing signs of impairment and failed a roadside breath test.

A 62-year-old man from St. Clair Township was arrested and charged with operation while impaired by alcohol and drugs and having a blood alcohol concentration over 80 milligrams.

The accused is scheduled to appear in Sarnia court on March 2, 2020.
