Occupants escape early morning house fire

There were no injuries in an early morning house fire on Vroom Avenue in Sarnia that caused an estimated $200,000 damage.

Fifteen firefighters from three stations responded just after 2 a.m. to a split level home between Exmouth Street and Highway 402 east of Indian Road.

Sarnia Fire & Rescue Platoon Chief Mark Smith said the cause is being listed as accidental.

"We believe the fire was located mostly on the upper main level and it did breach into the structure above," said Smith. "With the 15 firefighters on scene, they contained the fire quickly and knocked it down quickly."

All occupants and pets in the home made it out safely.

Sarnia fire crews were on scene for several hours.
