'Bodily autonomy' theme of Women's March Saturday

Sarnia's chapter of Women's March Canada is holding its second annual rally on Saturday.

The group joins others around the globe to raise awareness about issues and challenges facing women.

Spokesperson Angela Salaris-Pettit said the theme this year is bodily autonomy, the right to self-governance over one's own body.

"We started the march last year because we felt like there was some awareness needed in Sarnia-Lambton, we felt like we needed a presence in Sarnia-Lambton," said Salaris-Petit. "Bodily autonomy affects everyone. Transgender, male, female, non-binary, young and old. Everyone deserves the same access to services and that's just not the current situation."

Those interested in participating are asked to gather at the Canadian Tire Gas Bar at 1380 London Rd. at 11:30 a.m.

The rally begins at noon, followed by an after-party at Refined Fool.
