Strong finish pushes kettle campaign over top

Sarnia-Lambton's Salvation Army is thanking the public for supporting its kettle campaign over the holidays.

Lieutenant Brad Webster said it was highly successful this year.

"Our goal was $139,000 for the six week campaign, and this year we raised $164,745.75," said Webster.

He said the community stepped up and supported them in a huge way.

"This is our operating budget for the year, so what this means is we will be able to help out that many more families that are struggling throughout the year," said Webster.

Webster said families are supported through the Salvation Army food bank, through housing, through clothing or other emergencies that may arise through the year -- like rental, utility or emergency medical assistance.
