Sting fall to Saginaw, losing streak hits eight games

The Sarnia Sting's (15-20-4-0) losing streak is now at a season high eight games following a 5-3 loss in Saginaw (23-11-2-2) in OHL action Sunday.

Jacob Perreault scored his 23rd and 24th goals of the season, while Ryan McGregor also lit the lamp.

The Sting jumped out to a 1-0 lead with 1:59 left in the opening period, but Saginaw tied the game just 30 seconds later.

The Spirit scored three second period goals, and one early in the third to open up a 5-1 lead. Sarnia scored two quick goals but it wasn't enough to complete the comeback.

Ethan Cardwell, and Cole Perfetti each had a goal and an assist for the Spirit. Cole Coskey, Dalton Duhart, and Mitchell Smith rounded out the scoring.

Sarnia's Jordan Kooy was busy in his return to the crease, turning aside 43 of 48 shots. Marshall Frappier made 29 saves on 32 shots faced for the Spirit.

The Sting haven't won since December 14 against Mississauga.

They're last place in the Western Conference with 34 points, six back of Erie and Sault St. Marie for 7th.

Sarnia is back in action on Friday night at home to Oshawa. They're in Hamilton on Saturday and Erie on Sunday.
