Catholic, public school board chairs, vice-chairs unchanged

There are no leadership changes for next year at the St. Clair Catholic and Lambton Kent public school boards.

John Van Heck and Matt Roop were acclaimed as chair and vice-chair of the separate board Tuesday night.

Van Heck said there are exciting days ahead.

"Our new St. Angela Merici Catholic School will open in September 2020, and the final refurbishment of the Our Lady of Fatima site will be completed as it becomes the new home of French Immersion in Chatham in September 2021," said Van Heck. "In addition, we will continue to work towards completion of land agreements for our new south Chatham and Sarnia schools."

Public board trustees re-elected Jane Bryce as chair and Randy Campbell as vice-chair.

Bryce has been a trustee since 1994 and has formally held the positions of chair and vice-chair during that time.

"I greatly appreciate the ongoing support of the board and I look forward to continuing in my position as chair," Bryce said in a statement. "Looking ahead, we remain committed to effective governance that puts students first, as well as making informed leadership decisions that will ensure the LKDSB [Lambton Kent District School Board] is well positioned to support current and future students' success and well-being."

The chair and vice-chair terms expire at the end of November 2020.
