Fifteen Bantam hockey teams from across Ontario are competing in the Lambton Shores Local League Silver Stick tournament this weekend.

Action kicks off Friday morning at 9 a.m. at the Legacy Centre in Thedford and The Shores Rec Centre in Forest.

The Point Edward Blackhawks take on Port Stanley in Thedford, and Ingersoll battles Hagersville in Forest.

Lambton Shores Minor Hockey President John Van Gorp said the local communities are well represented.

“The local Lambton Shores bantam team will be there. We also have East Lambton, Mount Brydges, Southwest [which is the Glencoe area], Point Edward, and Lucan,”

Van Gorp said he expects it to be a busy weekend for tourism in the region.

“Most of these teams from up north, I think, are staying locally in hotels. So, there will be a couple of teams at the Forest Golf and Country Club, and a couple of teams will be staying in Grand Bend. It’s definitely going to bring a lot of business into the area.”

Other squads making the trip include Saugeen Shores, Kincardine, and Woolwich.

Opening ceremonies will be held on Friday at 2:30 p.m. in Forest.

The host Lambton Shores Predators will take on Ingersoll shortly after.

The action continues all weekend, with the finals taking place on Sunday at The Shores Rec Centre.
