The Canada Border Services Agency is reporting a significant cocaine bust at the Blue Water Bridge.
A man driving a tractor trailer coming into Canada was referred for a secondary inspection on November 18.
CBSA said there was an inconsistency in the weight of some of the boxes in the shipment. They were examined and were found to contain 50 packages of suspected cocaine, weighing about 50 kilograms in total.
The CBSA seized the suspected cocaine and arrested the driver.
The London RCMP's Border Integrity Team attended and took custody of the subject and evidence.
Guo Bing Zhao, 52, of Markham, is charged with importation of a controlled substance, and possession for the purpose of trafficking contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
He was remanded in custody and will have a bail hearing on December 12 in Sarnia.
