Sting lose to Hounds in key divisional matchup

The Sarnia Sting (11-12-0-0) have now dropped four of their past five games after losing 5-2 to the visiting Sault St. Marie Greyhounds (10-14-1-0) in OHL action on Sunday.

Jacob Perreault and Ryan McGregor had a goal and an assist each, while Jamieson Rees dished out two helpers.

The Hounds led the game 3-1 after the opening period. McGregor inched the Sting closer midway through the second, but Cole MacKay restored Sault St. Marie's three-goal lead just a few minutes later.

MacKay sealed the win with an empty-net goal late in the third. He also had an assist on the night.

Sting goalie Ethan Langevin stopped 34 of 38 shots faced, while Bailey Brkin made 25 saves on 27 shots in the Hounds crease.

The Sting were forced to dress just five defencemen with Kelton Hatcher, Colton Kammerer, and Ashton Reesor all out.

Sarnia sits 8th in the Western Conference with 22 points, one up on the Hounds and 11 back of first place Windsor.

They're back in action on Friday at home to Mississauga, and on Saturday in Sault St. Marie.

As always, you can hear all of the action on CHOK.
