Bluewater Health's Mental Health Inpatient unit will be getting an outdoor oasis, thanks to the "Do It For Sarnia" campaign.
The fundraiser, launched in 2015 by Dan Edwards, raised $150,000 for mental health and addiction services.
Bluewater Health Foundation Executive Director Kathy Alexander said the funds have now been allocated to the patio area.
She said it's an opportunity to enhance patient healing and therapeutic treatment.
"It's a substantial design and implementation of a patio space for the inpatient mental health unit," said Alexander. "It's really going to provide an extension of the space for those patients in recognizing that many of them don't have access to outdoor space when they are on that floor."
It's hoped construction of the new patio will be done in time for a 2020 summer opening.
