Davy Jones expanding to Point Edward

Davy Jones Quality Meats is opening a new location in Point Edward, hoping to fill a need for butcher services in the village.

The site is smaller than the existing Confederation Street property and won't offer a bakery, deli or groceries.

Owner Kyle Deloof said residents will always get a quality product.

He said many people living in Point Edward will be able to walk to the store at 519 Helena St.

"Everything here is custom cut, and cut to order in-store," said Deloof. "The way we're set up, when customers come in they can see what we're doing. They can see the product that they're buying, and they can see us cutting it. It's just a better overall shopping experience. It makes the customer more comfortable knowing where their meat is coming from."

The new facility, at the former Vanity Fur grooming boutique, opened on Tuesday morning.

Deloof said he chose the new location because of its close proximity to Sarnia Produce, Cassie's Cottage Bakery, Marcin Bowl, and the LCBO.

It will employ four workers, bringing the company's workforce to a total of 20.
