Sting keep rolling, defeat Firebirds Wednesday morning

Jacob Perreault and Kelton Hatcher each scored twice and Jordan Kooy made 50 saves as the Sarnia Sting (10-8-0-0) beat the Firebirds (12-6-0-0) 5-1 in Flint on Wednesday morning.

The victory marks the Sting's 10th in their past 11 games after starting the year with seven straight losses.

Anthony Tabak scored Sarnia's other goal, while Jamieson Rees dished out a pair of assists.

Cody Morgan netted Flint's only goal and Anthony Popovich turned aside 30 shots in the Firebirds' crease. The Firebirds appeared to score another goal but it was waved off due to goalie interference.

Brayden Guy and Denis Busby got into a spirited fight midway through the third period after Busby crashed the net.

With the win, the Sting are now just four points behind Flint, Saginaw, and Windsor for first place in the OHL's Western Conference.

Sarnia's next game is on Friday in Mississauga before hosting Ottawa on Sunday afternoon.

As always, you can hear all of the action live on 103.9FM and 1070AM CHOK.
