Deadline near for Lambton County Grant Program

Time is running out to submit applications for $75,000 of funding for new and expanding cultural projects in Sarnia-Lambton.

The deadline for Lambton's Creative County Grant Program for 2020 is November 12 at 4 p.m.

Cultural Services General Manger Andrew Meyer said the program has supported over 120 new and expanding initiatives since being launched in 2013.

"In 2019, some of the notable projects that we supported included the Tall Ships celebration, some art exhibitions, Jazz and Blues in the Village, so a number of different activities across the county," said Meyer. "The intent was really to invest in new and innovative projects that build cultural capacity, strengthen the creative community and really define the county's unique identity, and these projects all really help to enrich the quality of life for our residents in Lambton County."

Meyer said selected applicants will have up to 50 per cent of their project's cost funded.

"Council each year supports $75,000 towards the Creative County Grant Program, and $35,000 of that is set aside for projects that have a county-wide reach, and then there's $10,000 set aside for each of the four quadrants of the county," he said. "There is a priority by the community to see new initiatives that come out of it, or if it's an existing event, a new feature as part of that existing event to really enhance the program."
